Many a little makes a mickle
That's an actual line from a paper I got today. I have no idea what it was supposed to mean, but it cracks me up. See the kind of thing I have to deal with when grading?

The adventures of a 30-year-old American in Korea (and beyond): Miscommunications, observations, frustrations, and a whole mess of pictures.

Both the line and Damian's comment had me cracking up. I will repeat it whenever I am down or whenever someone asks me a question I would rather not answer. mom
Yeah, doesn't it mean "much" or something in old english?(I'm torn between being more amazed at your student or my own geekery at the moment..) Bendress
I looked this up, and it is indeed a real saying from the highlands. Basically it means, many a little makes a lot.
But now that raises the question: where the hell did my student learn this phrase?

I love this from your student. I try saying it all the time. Now, knowing it actually means something is much more interesting. However I wonder how many times I can say it hear and anyone know what it mean.
Damian is right it does sound like a good title for a childrens book. You two could write one I am sure! Gram
