I'm an American who lived in Korea for six years. While there, I taught at a Korean university. I'm currently living in the US studying for my PhD in Rhetoric and Composition.

An astronomical English department? Or is that not the observatory it looks like?
It definitely IS an observatory. My building is the highest one on campus (almost all the way up a mountain), so there's a small observatory built on top, even though the astronomy department is in a totally different building.
