The Obligatory "What did you do over break" Post

So alright, back to the present for a moment:

What did I do over break?

Sit here at my computer and type to you folks? Check. Watch way too much TV that I've missed over the past six months and was now compelled to download and catch up on? Check. Read more than I have in a while? Check. Freeze my ass off because I had to walk all over town because I have no money? Check and check.

See, that computer thing really did break me. Really. I'm poor as all get out right now, but I should be fine soon. Payday isn't too far off. Still, I managed to do a little.

I finished my thesis. And by finished, I mean completely revised and done. All I need to do now is turn it in. This thing is beautiful if I do say so myself: 12 stories more well written and coherent than anything I've ever done before.

I started the "Early Days" series on my blog. What? Writing this stuff isn't as easy as I make it look. One attribute of a good writer, I was once told, is that he makes it look easy.

I worked out. I tested out the old shoulder, and yes, it's still hurt. What I have is tendonitis. Apparently it doesn't heal easily because it's been about three months now.

I met a friend for lunch. She showed me this great vegetarian place that I didn't know about (and paid for my lunch, that lovely, lovely woman). In a fun twist, I walk past it once or twice a week but have never noticed that it was vegetarian. That'll teach me for not bothering to read all the Korean words on signs. I've started to just read the big ones. Face it, folks, I'm sure you do this with English signs. We're lazy, us humans.

I wished Rose off. Friday was her last day at work, so I stopped in to say good-bye. We had a nice chat. She ended up inviting me out to dinner today too (and paid, that lovely, lovely woman). It's a little weird switching into "friend" mode with Rose after having her in "boss" mode for so long. But I think it'll work out. We get along very well, and she's a great person. Hell, we'll probably even be better friends than we were co-workers.

And then, of course, I wished I could do something with Rachel, because she's super-cool (and reads my blog, God love her), but I had no money, and she was sick. Unlucky people us. I suppose these things happen. Another time, Rachel.

And that's it. I'm surprised what I can do having only $3 for an entire week. Luckily I had some groceries and some friends willing to buy my meals.

Oh yeah, and Happy New Year to you all. I wish you the best in the year to come.

Congrats! That is great finishing up on your thesis. Good for you! I hope this will give you some extra time, when you manage to get some extra money. Hope the money comes in soon. I would not like to think of you starving in Korea. Thank goodness for you lovely friends. G.Reilig
